Burdened by Peiri Ann
Burdened #1
(Warning: Burdened contains mature content and strong language some may not find appropriate for readers under the age of 17.)
Eighteen-year-old Tracey Warren is a ‘run-of-the-mill’ high school student on the verge of graduation. She has her friends and her fun; she has life all figured out. Or she thought she did.
Her pedestrian reality crashes around her after an innocuous touch from a diabolically handsome stranger. Just one touch from Nathan Newcomb and her head and her world spins out of control. Soon she discovers that the only cure for the uneasy feelings and pain is Nathan himself. A man whose very existence balances between violent chaos and rigidly controlled dangers.
Nathan knows that the life of a woman mated to a burdened Sephlem is destined for peril beyond a human’s reckoning. But Tracey calls to his desire to experience love in spite of the hazards. And Nathan’s impossibly potent magnetism draws Tracey into a bonding that will put her in mortal danger again and again.
Once the pair becomes one, the threat escalates and nowhere is safe. There are enemies that lurk behind every corner. But the greatest danger may be in the bloodlines that course through Nathan’s veins.
Can a love for all time survive or will their burdened souls surrender and fade away?

3 Just for Nathan Stars
Burdened is the first
book I have read by Peiri Ann and book #1 in the Burdened Love Series.
This book has a great blurb and after I read it
I was really looking forward to getting engrossed in a paranormal romance.
It took me a good quarter of the book for me to
settle, the writing style is quite stiff and formal and at times a little
distant, although it does change into a more relaxed, flowing narrative about
half way through.
This author writes with an accent and as a Brit
at times I found the regional slang difficult to follow. The story is frantic
for most of the book and I had to concentrate hard to follow the conversations
between characters.
From about half way through the plot gained
momentum and relaxed, and from that point on I started to enjoy the story.
Can I say now that I HATE Scott and Glen they
are the worst couple in the world. He's a selfish idiot and she's a stupid Muppet
put them together and you get a whiny nightmare. I found them incredibly obnoxious and if they had
disappeared I wouldn’t have had an issue with it.
This book has a very similar vibe to Shelley Crane’s
Significance Series, but this book is much more violent and at times a bit
gruesome.
Now onto Nathan and Tracey....
I both loved them as a couple and was very frustrated by
them. Tracey is only 18 and is
incredibly immature she is completely in lust
with Nathan and because of their bond she is
consumed with him to the point of
completely disregarding everything else in her world.
I get that she feels this intense need to be with him and
there is a physical pain if they
separate but at times she was a little
annoying. She doesn’t seem to have any sense of self
preservation but hey she
does have a fire snake lol.
I feel so incredibly sorry for Nathan he is surrounded by
‘family’ but honestly if I were him I would move and out and get as far as
possible from the backstabbing lot of them. He is ‘burdened’ but to be honest I
thought he was adorable and the most sensible and normal of all the characters
in this book.
It’s obvious that Nathan and Tracey have a connection and
chemistry and I do love the idea that she is his soul mate and that they are
bound to each other forever does pull at your heartstrings.
Once I got into this book I did enjoy it, for me Nathan is
the best thing in this book and I loved how he went all ‘demon’ when he started
kicking ass.
Burdened gets 3 stars from me.
