A Summer Romance by Tracey Smith - Devereaux Manor Mystery #1 - 4 STARS!!!

A Summer Romance by Tracey Smith

Four Mystery Filled Stars
Blurb - Maggie had her entire life planned out since the age of twelve, looks like the joke was on her. As all of her carefully laid plans begin to fall apart she jumps at the opportunity to get away and spend a carefree summer down south.

When she arrives at Devereux Manor it all seems too good to be true. The home is beautiful, the town is inviting, and the sexy gardener promises to make this a summer she won’t soon forget.

However the more she learns about the elusive Ms. Devereaux she begins to realize that the carefully placed ad in front of her dorm room may not have been the happy coincidence that it once seemed. Maggie isn’t the only one who Ms. Devereaux has lured to the plantation, and Ms. Devereaux isn’t the only one with secrets to hide.
A Summer Romance is the first book in the Devereaux Manor Mystery Series and the first book I have read by this author.
I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review so here goes...
Ok so the good bits...
·         I love a good mystery!!
·         Maggie, her character evolved and grew.
·         Aaron what a hottie with a tragic back story.
And the not so good bits...
·         I need the next book like NOW!!
I wasn’t sure what to expect in this book, the blurb is defiantly elusive and like the rest of the book it has an edge of mystery to it.
To say that I have been completely sucked in by this book would be the understatement of the year!!! I devoured it in one go in a matter of hours, I literally couldn’t put it down
A Summer Romance manages to be both a romance and a Scooby Doo style mystery book and I mean that it has twists and turns that you would never expect.
I loved both Aaron & Maggie they are from very different backgrounds and are brought together by a weird twist of fate or at least they think so.
I love the fact that even though Maggie is from a rich family and had a lot of privilege she was just as lonely as poor Aaron.  He spent years in a juvenile detention centre after killing his step-father to protect his younger sister.
I really hope that Mrs Devereaux gets involved and finds Aarons sister for him!!
The level of intrigue in this book is what transforms it from an average everyday romance book into a brilliant mystery that had me on the edge of my seat.
For once in my life I love the fact that this book left so many questions unanswered, who is Aaron to Mrs Devereaux , why did she bring both Aaron & Maggie to the manor and what on earth is going to happen next.
I love that this whole book has a small town feel, everyone knows everyone else’s business and yet Mrs Devereaux still manages to stay a complete enigma.
Andi is brilliant and I’m so glad that she became friends with Maggie they bounce off each other really well and I loved their banter.
The dude attacking Maggie came completely out of left field for me, I totally want expecting that and I’m hoping that his actions are going to be explained in more detail in the next book, who was it that told him to get rid of them, and what is in the mystery file????
I loved Maggie and I really enjoyed how the author developed her character, the longer she was at the manor the more confident she became. I soooo was not expecting her to be a bit of a sex kitten though and I was super impressed that she seduced Aaron.
Overall I loved this book, I loved Aaron & Maggie and I can’t wait for the next book to find out what’s going to happen next.
