Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren - 3.5 STARS

Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren
3.5 brilliant start dissapointing follow through stars
Blurb - An ambitious intern. A perfectionist executive. And a whole lot of name calling.

Whip-smart, hardworking, and on her way to an MBA, Chloe Mills has only one problem: her boss, Bennett Ryan. He's exacting, blunt, inconsiderate—and completely irresistible. A Beautiful Bastard.

Bennett has returned to Chicago from France to take a vital role in his family's massive media business. He never expected that the assistant who'd been helping him from abroad was the gorgeous, innocently provocative—completely infuriating—creature he now has to see every day. Despite the rumours, he's never been one for a workplace hookup. But Chloe's so tempting he's willing to bend the rules—or outright smash them—if it means he can have her. All over the office.
As their appetites for one another increase to a breaking point, Bennett and Chloe must decide exactly what they're willing to lose in order to win each other.
Beautiful Bastard is book one in the Beautiful Bastard Series by Christina Lauren.
This is another book that I have seen recommended if you liked fsog and has been sitting in my to read pile for a while.
Can I just start by saying that this book has a fantastic title!! What I didn’t know is that this is an ode to twilight with some extra kink lol. I’m assuming that this was originally written as twilight fan fiction and was then made into a full length novel. I did feel like a bit of an idiot that Carlisle, Esme and Emmett were introduced before I realised this though.
Ok so the good bits....
·         The sex in this book is hot as hell!!!!!
·         I love both Chloe and Bennett’s characters its rare I can engage with both the male and female protagonists.
·         I love that this was not a straight forward instalove story.
And the not so good bits...
·         The story felt a bit dragged out, felt like it had been padded a bit to make it a longer book.
·         They both got nice too quick for me.
I really enjoyed this book it’s very rare that you read about angry sex and this author did it brilliantly.
I loved how Chloe and Bennett interacted with each other whilst they were Ms Mills & Mr Ryan. They hated each other but still wanted to have sex.
Angry sex is hot, the dirty talk was sexy as hell and had me squirming, and the idea that they literally couldn’t keep their hands off each other was ace.
I loved that Chloe was a strong woman and that she stood up to Bennett at every turn, it’s so rare to see a determined female character in these types of book. I think this is why it was so disappointing when she becomes an insecure mouse once they are exposed.
Bennett is the ultimate Beautiful Bastard, I know they had to fall in love but I kind of didn’t want him to, once the L word was though he suddenly became a wimp L
To be honest once they started to like each other it kind of went downhill, I loved the tension up until this point and once they decided they liked each other all that tension dissolved and this became just another romance with plenty of sex.
