- Besides her family, Lacey Robinson’s only other love is baseball. She’s on top
of the world when Arizona State University approaches her to discuss a
scholarship. To be the first girl ever to grace a college boys’ team is beyond
what she has ever dreamed. Her fastball is impeccable, her curveball equally as
good, and her slider annihilates anyone who dares to step in the batter’s box.
But fate has its own way of throwing curveballs.
When she looses her mother and sister to a home invasion, baseball and her dreams die with them. Tragedy has a way of seeping deep into her psyche, causing nightmares, panic attacks and blackouts. Diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, her psychiatrist recommends a change of scenery and picking up the things that she loved to do, and for Lacey that is baseball.
After a move clear across the country, only two things matter to Lacey—overcome her PTSD and make Kensington High’s baseball team. However, she never counted on meeting someone who wants her as badly as Kade Maxwell. The tall, sexy and drool-worthy bad boy has a magical touch that awakens her feminine side, and a kiss that slowly erases her nightmares. But getting involved with him may be dangerous when Kade’s nemesis returns to town to settle a vendetta. To complicate matters, her PTSD has taken a turn for the worse. She has to find a way to heal otherwise she may not have a chance at anything in life, especially love.

Dare to Kiss is the first book in The Maxwell
Series and my introduction to this author; I was given this ARC by the
publisher in exchange for an honest review so here goes...
Ok so the good Bits...
·
Lacey, I love this girl
she has lots of issues but she’s badass!!
·
Kade, he’s a bit too
young for me to be lusting over him but hell he’s hot, caring and a tiny bit
alpha swoon!!
·
This book was not at all
what I was expecting!
And the not so good bits...
·
I now need the next book
like NOW!!
The blurb for this book is sweet and high school
love story with a twist, but this book is soooo much more than that.
Dare to Kiss has a much darker edge to it that
you would first imagine and I loved it.
Lacey has had to deal with an incredibly
traumatic ordeal and now suffers from PTSD and god I really felt for the girl.
I get the impression that there is something deeper happening with her mother
and sisters deaths but I figure that will be dealt with in the next book.
I love Lacey I’m not sure if she would have been
so aggressive before her families murders but now her character is spiky and in
your face. I love that she’s strong enough to stand up to the boys who try to
intimidate her.
The Maxwell boys are amazing there are four of
them all hot as hell and incredibly protective of Lacey and I love that group
family feel.
I have to say that all of these characters seem
a hell of a lot older than 17 and 18 but I suppose that could because they have
all suffered through the death of close family members.
I’m gonna say it and please feel free to
disagree but this author has a slight Tijan (Fallen Crest High Series) about
it. Its high school with a dark underbelly, where bullies don’t just steal your
lunch but could put you in the hospital.
I love Kade & Lacey together they have brilliant
chemistry and to be fair even though I hate to say it of two 18yr olds but the
sex is hot!
I love Kade he really felt like a knight in
shining armour he’s so protective of Lacey and incredibly accepting of her
issues. He also happens to be incredibly good looking and a bit alpha to be
honest he’s pretty perfect. I love that he has a really close relationship with
his brothers he’s also a massive badass lol!!
This book has an air of intrigue about it and I
get the feeling that there is something deeper at play here.
There’s something bigger happening with Greg
& Aaron than just envy and jealousy, I get the feeling something it going
on with Becca, and somehow it’s all going to tie back into Lacey and her dad.
I absolutely love the Maxwell boys and I can’t
wait to find out what’s going to happen next, I know that the next book will
still be about Kade & Lacey. But I really hope that the author writes Kody,
Kelton & Kross’s stories too.
This book was not at all what I was expecting it
was sooo much better I absolutely loved it 4.5 stars!!!
