Heart Recaptured by Tillie Colle
Hades Hangmen #2
Even salvation can be delivered through the love of the damned…
Beauty can be a curse.
Faith can be a cage.
Only love can set you free.
A few long weeks after being reluctantly ripped from the comforting embrace of her sacred prophet’s religious commune—the only life she has ever known—a terrified Delilah is thrust into a world enveloped by evil and swimming in sin.
Steadfastly devout in her faith, and retaining the deep belief that her soul is innately tarnished as a branded ‘Cursed woman of Eve,’ Delilah is determined to find her way home to her people in The Order and away from the corrupt and damned outlaw motorcycle club—The Hades Hangmen—who hold her at their secluded compound for her protection—a 'protection' she strongly resents.
Delilah yearns to return home, convinced that only amongst her own people, and under the holy guidance of the Lord’s revealed prophet, can her Satan-spawned soul be truly saved. Conditioned her entire life to believe she is a witch... a life-long temptress… the devil’s whore... Delilah increasingly resents her beautiful face, her shapely body and her sensuous effect on men. But when a man of the motorcycle club—a deeply sinful yet stunningly beautiful man—is charged with her care, Delilah begins to see that this dangerous and moralless sinner from the 'outside' may offer her something she did not know could truly exist: unconditional love.
Kyler ‘Ky’ Willis loves his life: a daily abundance of brotherhood, liquor, the freedom of the open-road and—best of all—his pick of hot women. Raised a biker brat and now VP of the most notorious MC in the States, Ky has no shortage of club sluts warming his bed; a situation he takes full advantage of… until a certain blonde enters his life… a gorgeous pilgrim-blonde he can’t get out of his head… a pilgrim-blonde he and his club recently-rescued from some backward religious cult… and a pilgrim-blonde he’s been ordered to keep the hell away from and his whorish hands off.
When yet another in a lengthy line of drunken blunders forces Ky to reluctantly take charge of the pilgrim-blonde’s care, he realizes that there could be more to this woman than just supermodel looks and a stacked set of tits. He begins to see that she could be the woman who could do the impossible—tame his wild ways and capture his reluctant heart.
But the unyielding bonds of Lilah’s past are strong, her ‘people’ determined and, with a new Prophet in charge and hell bent on revenge, they are mightily reluctant to let her go...
Heart Recaptured is book #2 in the Hades Hangmen Series by the brilliant Tillie Cole. To say that I’m a bit of fan girl for Tillie’s books would be a tad of an understatement!! It Ain't Me Babe the first book in the Hades Hangmen Series is up there with my favourite books ever (here’s a link to my review). As you can imagine I was literally wetting myself with excitement when I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I have a pretty tight reading schedule, especially on months like this when I have 40+ books to read and review. But I have to say the temptation to say sod the schedule and just read this book the moment it hit my kindle was overwhelming!!!
I could wax lyrical for pages about why I loved It Ain’t Me Babe, so book #2 Heart Recaptured had me placing some pretty heavy expectations on the books shoulders to live up to the brilliance that was its predecessor.
The question on everyone’s lips is well, did it live up to the hype.....
Simply put...... Yes it did but in a completely different way than the first book.
This book is about Ky and Lilah, but honestly it’s not.
This is Lilah's book and Christ what a story!!! I’m going to be honest; at the start of the book I didn’t really like Lilah. She came across as a bit psycho, desperate to be rescued from Hades Hangman hell and returned to the nutters R us cult.
My initial reaction was WTF is wrong with this woman!!! I felt like she had completely tipped over the edge into loopyville and stopped off at brainwashed.com on the way.
And then we get a closer look at Lilah and see the innocent, tortured, manipulated soul that she actually is. And I instantly invested in this book, Lilah is not insane or self righteous she’s broken and damaged and so conditioned to the abuse she has endured for so long she simply cannot survive without it.
Again the idea that a cult could actually exist where women are persecuted and isolated simply because they are beautiful is horrifying. What’s worse is religion that should be peaceful and nurturing and a place of universal safety being turned on its head and manipulated and spun to serve an evil purpose.
Tillie Cole has created this beautifully written story that is so wonderfully heartbreaking. Lilah’s downward spiral is difficult to read, she hates being beautiful because it has caused her to live a life of sexual abuse and brainwashing that has led her to a point that she fears everyone is being tempted by the devil because of her.
I was touched by Lilah; she is so childlike and desperate to please. It’s unnerving to read some of the scenes where she is so subservient to the men around her. I hated the men who had forced her to become the downtrodden woman who feels she’s evil!!!
Ky, god the mouth on that bloke!!! But the wonderful, sweet way he dealt with Lilah had me melting into a puddle of goo.
I love it when a hard, biker man who is happy to kill and maim goes ga ga over a women. I mean he is hook, linker and sinker gone and I loved it!!!!
That cult really needs to get their comeuppance and it needs to be soon!!!! Send Flame over there he will sort them out and laugh manically as he does it!!!!
This may be Ky and Lilah’s book but on any page where Flame was mentioned he stole the show!!! I love him, he’s mad as a box of frogs but I LOVE HIM!!!! I am counting down until book #3 Flame and Maddie's story comes out.
Somehow I managed to overlook the bikers and how morally corrupt they are, in this series they are the good guys and that overshadows the violent and aggressive acts.
This book stole a bit of my soul, it makes me need to kiss my children and hug my husband and be grateful.
I loved this book, it’s different to It Ain’t Me Babe but it provoked that same reaction so again it gets an incredibly easy 5 stars and a place in my favourite books of the year!!!
Amazon & USA Today Best Selling Author, Tillie Cole is a Northern girl through and through. She originates from a place called Teesside on that little but awesomely sunny (okay I exaggerate) Isle called Great Britain. She was brought up surrounded by her English rose mother — a farmer’s daughter, her crazy Scottish father, a savagely sarcastic sister and a multitude of rescue animals and horses.
