Blurb
- Bound by passion, she was powerless to resist.
One dark evening in London, photographer Serena Folkes is indulging her impulsive side with a night-time shoot. But someone is watching her – mysterious entrepreneur Gustav Levi. Serena doesn’t know it yet, but this handsome stranger will change her life forever…
Serena is fascinated by Gustav, the enigmatic owner of the Levi Gallery, and she soon feels an irresistible pull of attraction. The interest is mutual, and Gustav promises to launch Serena’s photographic career at his gallery, but only if Serena agrees to become his exclusive companion.
To mark their agreement, Gustav gives Serena a bracelet to wear at all times. Attached to it is a silver chain of which he is the keeper. With the chain Gustav controls Serena physically and symbolically – a sign that she is under his power.
As their passionate relationship intensifies, Gustav’s hold on the silver chain grows stronger. But will Gustav’s dark past tear them apart?
A seductive and beautifully written novel for erotic romance fans. The Silver Chain is the first in the sexy, passionate and addictive Unbreakable Trilogy by Primula Bond.
The Silver Chain is book #1 in the Unbreakable Trilogy and the first thing I have read by this author.

The Silver Chain is book #1 in the Unbreakable Trilogy and the first thing I have read by this author.
I was given this book by the publisher in
exchange for an honest review so here goes...
Ok so the good bits...
·
Gustav he’s intense and
dark.
·
Serena she’s a vibrant
young woman waiting to embrace life.
·
This is a romance with
some seriously kinky twists.
And the not so good bits...
·
This book takes some
very odd turns to the dark side.
·
At times the story seems
overly complicated and just a bit odd.
God I’m not sure what to say about this book I
feel really mixed about the story and characters.
This story has glimpses of brilliance but then
as quick as they come they are gone and it descends into just plain odd strangeness.
The book starts brilliantly I loved and adored
the way Gustav & Serena met in the square and are genuinely drawn to each
other. I loved the undercurrent of passion and desire that is so beautifully
written, how the mere touch of a hand was incredibly erotic and haunting.
The story continues well with Gustav offering
Serena an exhibition in exchange for her being at his beck and call. For me
this agreement was all a bit vague and could have been totally sexed up but
anyhoo....
The chemistry between Gustav & Serena is
literally off the charts with anticipation after the scene in the gallery
office and continues once they meet at Gustav’s home.
And here comes the aptly titled Silver Chain,
now I kinda like this kinky twist on a traditional collar and add the chain
which Gustav then attaches to his wrist and for me this is all going well so
far!!.
Unfortunately from this point on is where the
book gets a bit odd, at Serena’s exhibition she shows a series of semi erotic
pictures of nuns which then leads Gustav to take her to the house of kink that shows
picture of orgies and a female dominant that we later find out is Gustav’s ex
wife whipping Gustav’s assistant Crystal (I told you it gets a bit odd!!!)
Serena & Gustav get down to a bit of kinky
spanking and bondage using the silver chain and hell there’s nowt wrong with a
bit of kink.
But here’s where it all gets a bit wrong Gustav
up to this point has been a hunk a chunk of dark and sexy, he’s an attentive but
aloof man but these qualities draw you into him.
But once he takes Serena to Switzerland it’s
like someone else starts writing this book, Gustav becomes a weird asshole. And
then we cue to the bizarre bondage/dominatrix/dom & Sub scene in Gustav’s
ex’s room of pain to be honest I’m really not sure what the hell is going on
with this whole scene I didn’t find it in the least sexy or titivating but to
be honest a bit uncomfortable and weird.
Then we find the shrine to Margot Gustav’s ex
where every inch of their room is covered floor to ceiling in drawings and
erotic photo’s off Margot. Now seriously WTF!!!! I don’t even know what to
say!!!
Once we leave Switzerland it’s like the author
of the first half of the book takes over again and we have sweet attentive
Gustav back and I’m instantly drawn to him.
Please don’t assume that I didn’t like the
Switzerland scenes because I was offended by the kink that’s really not the
case I love smutty books but only if they are sexy and the kink enhances the
story. For me in this book the kink is more about shock factor than anything else
and that just didn’t work as far as I’m concerned.
I’m not entirely sure what to say about Serena I
kinda like her she’s had a horrible past and is determined to better her life.
I can completely see why she is so drawn to Gustav and I understand why she
would accept his offer.
For me Serena is the constant good in this book,
I engaged with her and watched as her character grew and developed.
I really not sure how I feel about this book
parts I loved and parts I really disliked, I honestly feel like this book had
so much potential that just wasn’t fully developed.
This is book #1 in a trilogy and I can say now I
will probably read the rest of the series, I mean hell the way this book ended I
actually have to know what’s gonna happen next.
I gave this book a solid 3 stars!!
